Taking advantage of the pleasant weather and temperature conditions prevailing in Dubai, on a relatively sunny February afternoon, we decided to visit the Miracle Gardens in Dubai. These gardens amidst the concrete jungle and hot sands are a veritable green lung in Dubai and have over 100 million flowers!
Over 60-70 varieties of plants - flowering and greens are laid out in fairly pretty and some times extravagant displays. You require around 2 -3 hours to amble all over the garden, smell the sweet perfume of the blossoms and capture the vibrant displays!
The A380 Emirates Airbus stands out year after year and holds the Guinness world record for maximum flowers in bloom at this display! The best part is that the displays are available for view from Nov to March and are dismantled and recreated each year with a different flower variety.
The park has a few water features as well.
To aid you the authorities have placed uniformed staff who diligently take your pictures (yep for the one's without the dreaded selfie stick) and by way of whistles get people to stay off the grass/ away from potentially damaging the plants / displays. There are quite a few places to sit and rest your tired feet or just admire the displays.
Outside food is not permitted in the garden premises. There are sufficient stalls to enable you to purchase a plethora of food options. There are shops to buy flower seeds, potting mix and plants. Some sections have displays and areas demarcated for children to play and indulge their exuberance. Shopaholics will be relieved to know that there is a main souvenir shop and a few hand carts / mobile ones scattered across the park close to the exit -entry gates.
Ticket cost for adult is AED 45 and these are available at the entry gate. The park opens from 9am and stays open till late evening so whether a weekday or a weekend there is no excuse for not having explored this! Close by is a butterfly park which we were unable to visit this time and look forward to doing so on another day.
The garden is approximately 20-25 mins drive from DIFC and cabs are easily available to commute. Taxi fare one way is approx. AED 55-60.
In life sometimes to smell the roses one needs to pause and in doing so take a minute to admire nature's beauty and in Dubai this is uniquely combined with human endeavour and ingenuity. Today, while life perhaps is full of care, but for a few hours we did have time to stand and stare.
