2012 Remembering Shakti Concert

For music buffs the world over, the group - "Remembering Shakti" ,needs no introduction. The mere name resonates the power of harmony in music (vocal & instruments) and its magic.

It was a pleasant surprise & a rare privilege to be treated to complimentary tickets for a live concert by the illustrious band on my birthday (courtsey Adhiraj Gardens - where I was residing then). An unforgettable evening followed, under a starlight sky, in the open air amphitheatre at Kharghar's famous Central Park (Navi Mumbai).

Listening to the symphony of the guitar (John McLaughlin), tabla (Zakir Husain) and mridangam/ghatam (V Selvaganesh) was a delight. The icing on the cake was when Shankar Mahadevan joined in - the heady cocktail of vocals and instruments had the audience rivetted in their seats.

There were cries for an encore on more than one occasion and more than one person in the audience thought the concert got over much too quickly. All good things ....sigh!

Thank you "Remembering Shakti" for keeping us spellbound - you make classical music rock and I can't wait for the next ocassion to listen to you!!
