September 2012

Madam Malhotra and I managed the impossible - we did the touristy -photo-posing bit - successfully -YET AGAIN. Some pictures of our famous excursion at the Singapore Zoo. This was to make up for any  misses during the night safari attempted in 2010!!

White Faced Saki Monkey

Tender Feet
Logs?? Nah these are alligators
Famous Proboscis Monkeys
Contemplating - to tug the tail or not to....

PS. We had mistakenly assumed these monkeys to be carved out of wood for they were so still & for the longest time too (as you know anything can happen in Singapore) when all of a sudden these lazybones decided to move!!Hmph!!

The Longest Yard

The otters section to our delight was next. The peppy little ones kept us long occupied with their antics.

The Otters Arena
As luck would have it, we had landed up at feeding time so we ended up seeing the animals at their most active. Someone does watch over intrepid explorers ;-) The two white tigers were resplendent in their glory and watching their feeding session was an eye opener. I still can't get over the size & the roar of the rare white tiger.....gave puny montax the ole shiver-me -timbers.

The hot sun (and not rain this time) ensured we took the famous buggy ride round and round the zoo. After a slight spell of laziness we did get down and wandered in to the reptile section and got our first glimpse of the famous & aptly named Komodo Dragons.

The visit was cut short as I had to race to Changi to catch my flight back. Despite my firm I -will-not-but anything, I did end up buying the now famous "Yoga Guru" who currently keeps AT company during Yoga.

Adventures at Della

October 2nd,  2012

Early morning getaway to Lonavala. Weather is pleasant for the intrepid foursome to try their hand at something old (road trip), something new (rappeling), something borrowed (blessings from Rain & Sun God) and something blue (State of muscles the following day).

Agenda for Montax - get over the fear of falling down a cliff....err almost....It was more like a slow drop down a rock face, on shaky legs,  inspite of being strapped snuggly to sturdy ropes and while some "commandos" rappled down the rock face straight out of where eagles dare...old montax hobbled - slowly but surely. Felt like a winner at the end of it though so all in all this was WORTH it!

Next to do- attempt at the Arjuna Award for archery! Not bad for an amateur and certainly not bad for a first timer...Don't believe me, take a look at the pix below (courtsey AT) ;-)

The boys then had a shot at the ATV.....Vrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooom!! AT was all geared up and zipped around merrily.....it really was tough to click any picture. I have a shot of the stretch of dirt and tyres since our resident hero had zimbply zooomed past!! Of course the fun was over all too soon..sigh. AT, despite being splattered all over with mud, had a whale of a time vrooming around the dirt track and seeing his mile wide ear to ear grin truly was the best part of the day.

We wanted to go cycling but hunger pangs and the impending boom of thunder signalled a torrential downpour and we instead headed for the cafe. Garam Garam (warm) parathas of various varieties had our undivided attention while the heavens opened up outside. Cycling was definitely no-go after this as we had to return to Navi Mumbai as well.

The service road leading to Della posed some challenge on the way up post the downpour. Our dear Anarkali went from pristine white to muddy spoltchy. Return trip was uneventful but we did stop at Tiger Hill for the much deserved (& quite popular) bhutta break, chikki and fudge shopping. Look forward to the next trip to Della.
